John Ferretti Named GOP Candidate for Hempstead

The Nassau County Republican Committee named John Ferretti its candidate for Hempstead town supervisor. He will be running against Democrat Joseph K. Scianablo.
Ferretti replaces Supervisor Don Clavin who has stepped down from re-election and will be running for a county court judgeship on this year’s ballot.
The announcement was made at the GOP headquarters, in Westbury on April 10.
Ferretti, a Levittown resident, served as a Nassau County legislator for over seven years and has controlled the taxes and reduced the tax burden for Nassau County residents.
“The committee looked for someone who is a proven tax slayer, helped make Nassau County the safest in the United States, fought antisemitism and hate in general, involved in the community and with his family and has been a lifelong resident of the Town of Hempstead,” said Joe Cairo, Nassau County Republican Committee chairman.
Ferretti highlighted his work to stop antisemitism and all hate crimes, enhance resources for police and protect women.
“When you decide to run for elected office you do it because you want to make a different in people’s lives,” Ferretti said. “I feel I have the experience in both the private sector and government that qualifies me for this position. In government, I have both administrative and legislative experience.”
The Republicans highlighted Ferretti’s two local landmark laws, the “Fairness for Women and Girls in Sports” and the “Mask Transparency Act.”
“Nassau legislator John Ferretti has distinguished himself as a county legislator, holding the line on taxes every year, and even reducing the tax burden for Nassau homeowners,” Cairo said. “What’s more Ferretti has played a crucial role in making Nassau the safest county in our nation, providing Nassau’s crime fighters with the technology and other resources needed to excel in their assigned tasks.”
Ferretti’s campaign will focus on supporting investments in police technology, combating antisemitism and hate crimes
“My pledge to the residents of the Town of Hempstead is to continue my fight for tax relief, great services and communities,” Ferretti said. “I will bring the same dedication to taxpayer relief as Town of Hempstead supervisor.”
